Dark Lord present

Sinister figure shadows tournament !

Presentation Evening

Kind words exchanged after what had been a good time on tour.  A few beers in Blau Weiss club and then its back to the hotel for a night cap.

Lunch

Back on the coach and a short hop back across the border to the Waldhaus for lunch.

Refreshed we headed up the mountain to have a go on the Alpine Coaster.  Most of us were excited at the prospect of going upcoming a chair lift and then racing back down but not Derek's "Dirk" Lampard who was struggling to stay awake!

Back to the hotel to freshen up and it will be off to the Blau Weiss for the good byes.

Rheinfall

The Rhine Falls (Rheinfall in German) is the largest plain waterfall in Europe.
The falls are located on the Upper Rhine between the municipalities of Neuhausen am Rheinfall and Laufen-Uhwiesen, near the town of Schaffhausen in northern Switzerland, between the cantons of Schaffhausen and Zürich.

Confession

In all the excitement of today, I ended up drinking some lager. Dreadful stuff.  Still back on the dark beer tonight.

Guildford Coaches Celebrate

A great trophy haul - well done.

Full time

The second half starts at the pace of the first half. Two minutes in, Goal (Frankie) 0-2. Freiburg respond straight away - now its 1-2. Shots from both teams and its getting tasty out there.
Ref shows a yellow card to the Freiburg number 11.  Great save but the Germans some how get the ball in the net 2-2. Now it's tense out there.
End to end but City have their noses in front and its a goal for City (Josh) 2-3.
Yellow card for Courage but in all the confusion, City breakaway and its a goal 2-4. Game over for the Fatherland methinks.
And that's the final whistle - bloody marvellous !

Half time

The big match is living up to its billing.  Both teams shoot wide in the opening minutes. The City forwards are proving a real handful.  Ten minutes in and its a goal (Kiyanu) to City.  End to end and its a great save from the City keeper.  Another great save as Tom punches clear: the rebound strikes the post but goes off harmlessly.  Both teams attacking well with possibly the edge to City. Another shot saved by Tom in the City goal.
Not sure how the referee is interpreting challenges - Yellow card Luke Simmonds but not sure why.
Half ends 0-1.

National anthems

The boys line up at the start for the National Anthems

U15 Freiburg vs Guildford City Lions

Getting ready for the big one!

U15 - Freiburg vs Guildford City Predators

A very closely contested first half with both sided looking threatening. Freiburg missed an open goal shooting wide whilst City have hit the post.  0-0.
Worst possible start as City concede an early goal. However two minutes later, Shaun popped up in the box to header the equaliser. End to end stuff played at high tempo. With minutes to go, Jake snuck in to win the game for City.  A magnificent performance.

U15 - Freiburg vs Guildford City Hunters

A lively first half but an early goal gave the hosts the edge in what has been a reasonably even contest so far. A late penalty just before half time have handed the advantage to Freiburg.

Second half - City play with a lot of heart and although things are fairly even in the middle of the park, Freiburg have the attacking edge as relected in the number of corners and shots they have.  Our hosts add three more goals to their tally and run out 5-0 winners.

First game of the day - U13s

Each game starts with the national anthems.

A very one sided first half with Freiburg only making rare incursions into the City half.  Ten minutes of sustained pressure result in a Lewis Nanson goal.  Five minutes later Aidan King makes it two for City.  Nanson soon gets his second and Luke Coling finishes a very good first half with his first and City's fourth.

Second half.  Freiburg offer a little more this half but not much and soon its five (nanson). A rare Freiburg attack results in a penalty. Goalie saves but rebound goes in (1-5). But its all City and soon two more goals (Luke Michelle and Louie Alderton) go in and the game finishes 1-7.

And the cups that are for grabs!

We all met on the Der Kaiser restaurant for dinner.
Bit of a nightmare as it turned out.  Still it was on to the Oirish bar for a couple of Guinnesses before bed!

Sportclub Freiburg vs FC Nürnberg

Preprandial drinks in the Bierkarten.  Very relaxed atmosphere.

After watching the home team concede two first half goals, it was necessary to get a refreshment.  Some interesting refereeing decisions.  Watching the game on the tv in a bar on the ground, now the score is 2-2.
